"Bring me another."

The guard looks at me, seemingly judging my decision. He seems to question it, but as soon as I am to tell him he should be on his way, he trots towards the nearest exit. Good, I won't be taking any questioning from a security pony. He should know better than to even think about it. I watch as the filly's remains are being pulled inside the Pegasus Device, the sight I always am so fond of. Dials on the machine show it is working at its peak performance and spectra is being extracted with minimum losses. A grin appears on my face, I really like when the work goes smoothly and even small complications, as the one with the yellow filly, Can add up to a successful day. Only one thing bothers me as I enjoy the show, that being Dr Atmosphere and his sudden departure. Quite unusual for a stallion like himself, he was always there to supervise the processing but that is not all. He simply took pleasure in watching those mistakes being taken care of, I couldn't really remember a single extraction he hadn't witnessed.

I was brought back from my train of thoughts by the indications on the device's dials. Maximum capacity has been reached, the failure was doing its single positive contribution to our master race and that brought even wider grin to my face. Feeling like in a fever I looked behind to check if the guard brought more fuel for our glory. He should be back by now, either he is one lazy motherbucker or something is wrong. Not wrong like it has been few moments before, those muscle ponies knew better than to play with the failures. I could afford a game from time to time, but if they were to fail they would end up in that wretched machine in no time. I looked over the railing to see if the guard hadn't thought about reporting my decision  to Dr Atmosphere...and I met the look of a pegasus I have never met before. He didn't look as a newbie, there was something in his eyes that stated otherwise. Also the way he walked around suggested he has much experience in supervising certain processes. His crimson coat almost blended with dark surroundings stained with decade worth of blood. Somehow I felt angry, how come there was a stallion supervisor I didn't know about? Was he there to specifically watch over me? Am I being monitored more than usual, like those psychopaths from the lower factory?

"Ms Mist, a failure has been delivered."

That sneaky son of a whore startled me for a second. But at least he finally brought what he was sent for. As my anger built up I turned around and saw a turquoise filly, crying her eyes out, being tossed in my direction. I raised my hoof and smashed its face as in midair, cutting off those wines. Once the filly crashed on the floor I stepped on it and pressed  with much more force than needed for pinning it down. Fresh cry of pain emerged from her throat, putting me in even more arousal state. I kept on pressing on her chest as I said:

"Hush now honey, soon you will finally be of a use for the flock. I know you are eager to make a contribution, but please be patient for just a little longer."

That said I pressed until I heard her ribcage collapse. That sound have always made my day, but today it did so much more. With bloodshot eyes I observed as the filly struggles for air, her breathing becoming shorter and heavier with every second. Shivers went down my spine as I felt the excitement build up in me and threaten to flood my leftovers of sanity. Not thinking much I grabbed the first chain that was available and hooked the failure o it. Funny how seemingly breathless ponies manage to shriek when spiked hooks pierce their bodies. Screams of pain filled the facility as I grabbed that useless body and pushed the hook deeper.

"Isn't that better sweetie? Now you are of a real value for the pegasi."

Giving her a final thrust with the hook I cherished the moment as her blood splashed over me, feeling of the fever gone, remaining that of ultimate excitement. Flooded with ecstasy I pressed the processing button. Failure started its way towards the device, screams becoming weaker and weaker with every moment, making me wonder if she reaches the grinder in time. Would be such a shame to waste that colour, you didn't just stumble on a turquoise failure every day. When she was near the opening on the top of the machine the guard spoke:

"Ms Mist, the device is operating at its full capacity right now. Feeding it with another failure would likely cause a damage to it. If not destruction."

I looked at the wise ass with hatred in my eyes, measuring him top to bottom and deciding I actually could take him down.

"Do you think I don't know it? Do you think I became supervisor just because of my looks? Let me tell you one thing you thug, I was the one to upgrade spectra extraction process, I was the one to revamp the hardware, I was the one to design new logic in the system to allow for better efficiency. Who the fuck are you to question my decision!?"

Seeing him shrink before my eyes filled me with joy, if that excuse for a stallion won't disappear quickly from before me he is very likely to follow the last route of the filly. He looked at me with eyes filled with fear.

"Yes ma'am, as you order ma'am!"

Good, there shall be nopony to question my doings, I run this factory after all.

The failure made it's way over the dreadful machine, I had just enough time to notice it was still alive when the hook swayed and released the body into the depths of the Pegasus Device. Bloody flood exploded from within, covering the sides of the structure and the floor. Vibrations from the casing carried to the facility floor, shaking every little bolt and nut in vicinity. Just as I calculated, the grinder was now under the level of fluid, working more like a pump than a shredder, which in turn slowed the process dramatically. In other words, the failure will be processed far more longer than usual, elongating its agony and saturating its blood with forty seven percent more spectra. The outcome - a full rainbow made of a single filly. Something not achieved by anypony so far. But I am Lightning Mist, there are no things impossible for me.

Since there was also a starter pony, the yellow filly before the last one, I still had some of the spectra in margin. If I take another one, I will be able to create two complete rainbows on my shift. Turning around to the guard I pierced him with my eyes and spoke"

"Next."

Halfheartedly the guard asked:

"Ms Mist, are you sure?"

I inhaled deeply and screamed, blocking out the noise of the device:

"Next!"

Looking from the railing at the top of the processing hall, crimson pegasus couldn't hide his grin. He has always enjoyed observing Lightning Mist at work, but today was a special day. Today she has managed to achieve unthinkable, today she has reached a higher level of processing. She truly deserves the title of employee of the month. With that thought Specter took off to report to Dr Atmosphere, being sure he has been observing the process as well.

Finally a good clear image of what the rainbow factory machine looks like. Which is a big freakin grinder.
